This isn’t your ordinary cabin in the woods.
Extended family getaways are a great way to reconnect, but sometimes it feels like the weekend is gone before it even begins! We’ve got the perfect place to make sure that your precious time with your family is the most fun possible: The Frontenac.
This gorgeous and luxurious cabin retreat is centrally located in Frontenac County. It’s less than an hour away from Kingston, but feels like a totally different place! The Frontenac cabin is tucked away in a perfectly lined forest for total privacy for you and your crew. It’s just far enough away from the main towns that you will feel the excitement of being in the wilderness, but not far enough that you can’t pop into town 15-30 minutes away.
When we first arrived at The Frontenac, we were impressed with the unspoiled scenery surrounding us. The views that surround this cabin will truly take your breath away. As we entered the cabin, all of our expectations were blown away! Pictures alone do not show the beauty of The Frontenac, it must be experienced.
First Floor
Step inside and prepare to be wowed! On the main floor is a full spa-like bathroom with two sinks and a shower. Across from the bathroom is the gourmet kitchen that is well stocked for all of your meal preparations, which made cooking a breeze for everyone! Beautifully built for a young family, the ceilings and beams are left open creating a sense of spaciousness. There’s a bedroom on the first floor with a king-sized bed. In the dining room, there’s a large family-style table and the living room is full of vintage items like lockers, library card drawers, and iconic Pendleton blankets. All of the available amenities brought a sense of relaxation to our group.
If you’re still wary of staying away for a few nights, you can find comfort in knowing that owners Michael and Paul, are committed to a 5-step enhanced cleaning process—a set of standards developed in partnership with experts, for the times of COVID-19 and beyond.
Second Floor
The Frontenac accommodates ten guests and has two bathrooms, AND, it’s pet-friendly!
The wooden stairway leads up to the second floor with a spacious sitting area, another bathroom, and two more bedrooms. You can bring out your inner child and sleep in one of the bunk beds which added a camp-style vibe to our stay.
The Lower Level
On the lower level, there’s a fully furnished family room with another bed room, sofa, tv, and ping pong table. The lower level includes a walk-out to to the lake.
Outside
Although the interior is amazing in every way, the moment you step out outside and see the stunning Thirty Island Lake, you will realize the sheer beauty of this place! There’s a Panoramic Barrel Sauna with views of the lake and surrounding forest. The wrap-around deck includes hammock(s) – yes, multiple hammocks so everyone can get a chance to sit on them, and views of the waterfront. We spent a lot of time of our time on the deck in the hammocks. The best part of my stay was waking up each morning to my own little wilderness escape. Sitting in the hammock with a coffee felt like the world around me was silent – absolute bliss!
If you’re more of an adventurous type, there’s plenty to do during your stay. A canoe, kayak, stand-up paddleboard, and life jackets are provided for you to use. To top it all off, there’s a large fire pit outside with chairs all around so you and your crew can end the day with fireside chats and smores.
If you’re looking for a cabin getaway, The Frontenac Cabin is a great option and may or may not knock your socks off! We had a blast and it was a central location to get together with the family.

Where: Frontenac County, (about three hours from Toronto, an hour from Kingston, and a two-hour drive from Ottawa.
Cost: Starting at $500 per night. There is a 2-night minimum with discounts for full week stays. The Frontenac has gained a lot of popularity in the past couple of years, so booking a stay can be tricky. Don’t let the winter season discourage you, The Frontenac would make a great getaway at that time of the year!
