I absolutely love hosting out of town guests. Sometimes it can be a bit of pressure to not only make sure they are comfortable in your home but to keep them entertained! When my best friend from out of town wanted to come and visit me, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to show her a new destination. After living in Kingston for over six years now and countless amounts of visits, I wanted to take her somewhere she has never been before: Brockville. Her two-day trip would consist of visiting all of our favourite spots in Kingston plus an overnight stay in the City of 1000 Islands.
So, to help you out, here is our guide to Brockville in the winter with information on where to stay, what to do, and our favourite spots to eat and drink!
Sleep
The perfect place to experience luxury in Brockville is more than just a number at 48 King Street West. Located in the historic downtown, this restored bank dates back to 1922 and now features deluxe suites.
Check-in was easy with a code emailed to get into the building and I was free to check-in at whatever time that suited me. We stayed in the outstandingly beautiful ‘Vault’ suite that featured heating flooring, double-sided indoor/outdoor fireplace, and a private hot tub deck! Quite frankly, I could not have dreamed of a better experience.
For anyone that appreciates architecture and design, this boutique hotel is filled with interesting art and textiles. The look and feel of the heritage building has been preserved with detailing of exposed stone walls that integrate perfectly. If you’re looking for luxury, you’ll find it at 48 King St West.
48 King Street West also happens to be a few steps away from access to multiple different places for dinner and drinks.
Nosh
Downtown Brockville has a wide variety of pubs, bistros, bakeries, and charming tearooms. Here are some places we made sure to visit.
O’Mally Kourt Fudgery
If you have an above-average sweet tooth then this is definitely for you. O’Mally’s claim to fame is their homemade fudge. Try the cookies and cream – you won’t regret it!
Cosies Tea Shop
Cosies, a British style tea room. The decor is absolutely the cutest with British teapots, teacups and photos of Queen Elizabeth everywhere. This is one of my favourite places to dine at when visiting. It’s small and quirky.
Nakhon Thai
Consider the southeastern delights of Nakhon Thai for a flavourful and exotic meal.
1000 Islands Brewing Co
1000 Islands Brewing Co draws its inspiration from the area itself. Despite being a smaller brewery, it provides a selection to cater to craft beer enthusiasts. Look here for their Wheat, Lager, American Pale Ale, and Amber. Ask about their brew school events!
Things To Do
Just steps away from downtown Brockville is the glorious St Lawrence River and the famous 1000 Islands. If it’s not too chilly out, take a walk along the trails or stop in at the 33,000 square foot marine Discovery Centre and Aquarium; the Aquatarium. Photo opportunities are around every corner, so take a stroll around the lovely historic downtown.

For evening entertainment, check out the Brockville Arts Centre for shows happening throughout the season. Cap off your night at 1000 Islands Brewing Co for a pint and live music.
