Kids are home for spring break 2024, and you’re out of ideas? Fear not! South Eastern Ontario has the activities and events to make your March a memorable one! No matter where March Break takes your family in South Eastern Ontario, it’s sure to put a spring in your step. Read on for 32 events to make the week wonderful!

Cornwall

1. Transition into Spring
This celebration of nature and community sees seed workshops, bigger swap tables, local vendors, educational exhibitors, ask-an-expert stations, family activities and more! Set for March 16 at the Cornwall Benson Centre from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., admission is free to stop on by.

2. Take Up Space at the Cornwall Public Library
From making a moon mobile to a space quiz show and from space storytime to space cartooning, March Break at the Cornwall Public Library is going to be out of this world! Look for space-themed events all week at the library, perfect for families who are enjoying the break together.

Prescott Russell

3. Public Skating and Shinny Hockey
Take part in a favourite winter pastime: skating! Slide into March Break with ice times set aside at both the Palais des sports – Embrun Arena, and the Frank Kinnaird – Russell Arena for public skating and shinny. There are even different times set aside for younger shinny players to partake in the sport!

4. Group Kawabunga March Break Camps
This year two exciting March Break camps are ready to put a spring in your step! A camp in Casselman is taking place at the Casselman Catholic High School, and a specialized multisport camp is set to run in Limoges at the Complexe Sportif de la Nation. Register until March 10 to make some memories over the break! 

SDG Counties

5. Goat snuggling at Vanderlaand Farm
Want to warm your heart over March Break? Then book a snuggle session with the goats at Vanderlaand Farm! Treat yourself or your friends and family to some goat therapy at this barnyard zoo. The farm is located on Oak Valley Road, Richmond.

6. Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary
On weekends from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. rent snowshoes or cross country skis at the Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary or go out walking on the trails! Refreshments are even available at the visitor’s centre. Watch the Friends of the Sanctuary socials to make sure the snow is just right and the trails are open! Get closer to nature and marvel at the diverse bird populations.

7. Summerstown Trails
Enjoy being active on 20 km of ski and 12 km of snowshoe trails at Summerstown Trails! Friends of Summerstown Trails maintains the beautiful trails for the public enjoyment from the first snowfall to the last trace of snow. There are even over 10 km of machine-groomed fat bike trails for beginners and experts!

8. SDG Library: Pokemon, bird houses, STEAM activities
Love Pokemon? Drop by the Morrisburg branch of the SDG Library this March Break and you will find Pokemon themed activities waiting for you! Join in the fun at the Ingleside Library for an evening of family fun on Monday, March 11 making your very own bird-feeder! Get out your magnifying glass and attend Spy School activities at the South Mountain branch, and the Chesterville branch will host experiments and DIY STEAM Activities during open hours. So  much to do at the SDG Library.

Brockville

9. Mermaids of March
Dive into underwater adventure as you engage with mermaids at the Aquatarium in Brockville during March Break. This extraordinary experience includes thrilling underwater performances, immersive mermaid-themed activities, enchanting mermaid stories, and so much more. Tickets are required! Don’t forget to look up – and see the incredible ropes course above the Aquatarium, too. Experience climbing through the rigging of a tall ship with the unique high ropes obstacle adventure course, suspended more than 12 feet above the exhibits! 

10. March Break at the Brockville Public Library
From a Bluey party to tween crafts, a felt plushie workshop to a fancy dress party and even a sticker swap, the Brockville Public Library has a host of fun events planned for the week. Grab some little friends and head over to discover the fun at the library! Note that some events require registration.

11. St. Patrick’s Day Family Celebration
Join the Brockville Irish Cultural Society for a jubilant family celebration in honour of St. Patrick’s Day, with Irish myths, stories, poetry, music, song and dance! This is taking place on Saturday, March 16 in the Buell Street Meeting Room at the Brockville Public Library.

1000 Islands Gananoque

12. Meet the pack at Hidden Meadows Alpacas.
A unique experience awaits at Hidden Meadows Alpacas! Learn about these curious, not-so-ordinary fibre animals near Seeley’s Bay. Hidden Meadows is home to a small herd of alpacas and an online store, The Paca Shack, featuring their soft, luxurious yarns. Be sure to schedule farm visits to make the most of the fun with your new fleecy friends!

13. 1000 Islands History Museum
From glaciers and muskies to pirates and picnickers – this place brings history to life! Past meets present here; discover how it all weaves together through interactive exhibits. 1000 Islands History Museum is one of the spots participating in March of the Museums. It’s a free family event that shows off what local museums are proud of, through cool crafts and fun videos. Check out the museum’s current fibre art exhibit, “From Away” and even learn how to fly blind by viewing the Link Trainer.

14. The Odd Spot in Spencerville
Book a table and enjoy a game night with friends or family! This café-deli shop in Spencerville is an entertainment hub for live shows, workshops, trivia, and games. 15. Public Skating Kemptville
Lace up and go skating this March Break at the North Grenville Community Centre. Whether it’s for family skate, drop-in all ages shinny hockey, or public skating, glide through March Break with family and friends.

16. EarlyON March Madness
Come join in the March Break fun! From pyjama day to art attack and science, EarlyOn in Kemptville is ready to welcome parents, caregivers and their children birth to 6 years (older sibs welcome, too!) for a week of learning and fun. Located at Kemptville Public School, north entrance.

17. Tour the fire station in Prescott
Sound the alarm! On Tuesday, March 12 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. enjoy a free visit and tour of the fire station in Prescott! Learn about fire safety, prevention and explore the trucks. 18. Nature Play and Learn at Limerick
A free drop-in outdoor, nature program for families and their children, aged birth to 6 years, located at the Limerick Forest Interpretive Centre. Explore what nature offers in an outdoor play-based learning environment – be sure to dress for the weather!

19. Family Forest School at Foley Mountain
Pack up your family and head up to Foley Mountain to explore, adventure, play, and learn in the forests! This free program will run rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Foley Mountain Conservation Area. Registration is required.

Kingston

20. March Break Movies at the Screening Room
The Screening Room is offering indoor kid-friendly programming over the break! Kids movies will play throughout March Break, including Tangle, My Neighbour Totoro, The Land Before Time, Napoleon Dynamite, or take part in the Looney Tunes Cartoon Party! 21. Xtreme Trampoline
Jump into a fun March Break! Whether jumping on the main court, or showing your skills on the dunk court and dodgeball court, or bouncing through the kiddie court one thing is for sure: this is wall-to-wall fun. Look for the March Break camp here, too.

22. Boiler Room Climbing Gym
March Break Camp at the Boiler Room in Kingston is the perfect chance for children to develop their climbing skills whatever level they are at! Did you know that The Boiler Room also has a bouldering only gym in Belleville with more than 5000 square feet of climbing space and tons of boulder problems? Check it out and rock on this March Break.

23. March of the Museums
Explore history through imagination, crafting and play!  With more than 15 museums from the Kingston Association of Museums Art Galleries + Historic Sites, March of the Museums is set for a week-long, free and family-friendly festival of museums over the break. From the Museum of Health Care to Frontenac County Schools Museum and everything in between it’s going to be a wild ride of history and discovery!

24. Maple Madness
The sweetest time of year! Maple Madness is back at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area. You know what that means… pancakes with real maple syrup! Online registration is required to save your spot. It’s running all weekends in March, but really ramps up for each day during March Break. Take a wagon ride to the sugar bush and learn how maple syrup is made, stroll through the bush and be sure to stop by the sugar shack for fresh pancakes and warm maple syrup. Nature’s gold at its best!

 

Prince Edward County

25. Escape Camp Picton
Escape Camp Picton takes inspiration from its location at a decommissioned WWII air base – blending heritage, history and an unforgettable game experience. Be sure to book ahead and take your pick of three escape room experiences, for indoor and outdoor fun, it’s a challenge to see if you can claim, “Mission Accomplished!” at the end of it all. 26. Maple Madness in PEC
Check out a sugarbush, pet alpacas, snowshoe through a winery – there’s a little something for everyone during PEC’s March Maple Madness! Celebrate local Prince Edward County businesses, sugar bushes, and all things maple while savouring some liquid gold. It’s the sweetest time of the year: local businesses team up to make the most of the first harvest of the year. Discover how maple syrup is made at local sugarbushes and then taste what creativity ensues at local wineries, breweries, restaurants and more.

27. Tails and Scales at the Belleville Public Library
Reptile crafts, messy art, cardboard knights and balloon sieges, a unicorn party, dragons vs. dinosaurs and much more! The Belleville Public Library has your March Break taken care of  with multiple events each day that will cure the break boredom and get your creativity and imagination fired up! Learn about all the activities and be sure to register.

28. March Break Camp Quinte Sport and Wellness
Children ages 4 to 13 years old are in for a week of fun at the adventure camp held from March 11 to 15 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Quinte Sport and Wellness Centre! Did you know that youth in Grades 6 to 8 can get a free youth room card? Play ping pong, pool, air hockey, or just chill out.

29. Pony Days at Fina Vista Farm
March Break Pony Days are back! Monday through Thursday afternoons of March Break Fina Vista Farm is hosting a mini camp for kids who love horses. Learn or advance basic horse management and riding skills in a friendly, laidback environment. Enjoy some ring riding, trail riding, grooming and handling of horses. Minimum age is 8-years-old. We can hardly rein in our excitement!

30. Kids Art Camp by These 4 Walls
Add some colour to spring! Sign up your littles for a March Break Art Camp for children ages six to nine years old with These 4 Walls. Monday to Thursday, explore different media, techniques and skills and develop fine motor skills to build confidence creating masterpieces!

Lennox & Addington

31. Barking Goat Farms
Make some new furry friends on a farm tour! This guided farm tour is all about interaction and personal experience at Barking Goat Farms. Host Deb will tell wonderfully funny stories about the animals, while also giving information about the farm and animal care. The family will enjoy meeting more than goats, donkeys, chickens and friendly barn cats. Learn about the farm, peek into the nesting box for eggs, and marvel at more than 40 goats who all have unique personalities – perhaps even pet the donkeys!

32. Marvel at the Museum of Lennox & Addington
Wow – the week is jam packed with fun and creativity at the Museum of Lennox & Addington in Napanee! From making a whimsical mushroom or fairy out of foam clay to puzzling to escaping into the magic and wonder of fairy tales and even a museum legends scavenger hunt – it’s sure to be a hoot.
