You Gotta Try: Campfire Cream (their take on s’mores.) Charred, heated marshmallows- will remind you of roasting marshmallows over a fire.

2. Cowan’s Dairy Bar

You Gotta Try: Banana Split Soft Serve with pineapple and whipped cream all nestled between a banana. Have you ever put pineapple in ice cream? Try it, you won’t regret it.

3. O’Malley Kourt Fudgery

The ice cream is cold and we guarantee you’ll find something else to take home here, too. From fresh creative fudge made in-store, to baked good, crafts and local artwork, The Fudgery in downtown Brockville is a must-see spot for a quick cool down this summer.

4. Fat Les’ Waterfront Patio

Get a big ice cream cone from this beautiful patio on the St. Lawrence River and watch the boats go by. Take a stroll along the waterfront and enjoy the summer heat or head to a cruise, the Aquatarium, The Brockville Railway Tunnel, and even a playground which are all within a stone’s throw of Fat Les’.

5. Sister Scoops

Don’t let the pink décor fool you – this ice cream shop boldly covers your cravings by serving more than 24 flavours of Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream and milkshakes. Turning any flavour into a milkshake just made summer a lot cooler!

6. Reids Dairy

You Gotta Try: Besides their famous Loonie Shakes, you need to try their Tornadoes (think McDonald McFlurrys and Dairy Queen Blizzards.)

7. Mio Gelato

You Gotta Try: You name it they have it. Fresh gelato, sorbetto, ice cream, and frozen yogurt. Plus they offer weekly featured flavours as requested by customers! We requested to try Cereal Milk flavour. *Note: this suggestion is a result of watching the Christina Tosi episode on Chef’s Table WAY too many times. They delivered with their own spin by using Froot Loops.

You Gotta Try: Vanilla Lovers Vanilla. Nothing basic about this flavour!

9. Mile And A Quarter Ice Cream

The ice cream parlour at The Opinicon in Chaffey’s Lock is always buzzing with activity. Walk up to get a cone and experience hospitality with retro vibes. Perhaps the coolest thing? Pull up a chair at one of the tables in the ice cream shop and grab a board game off the shelf for some good ol’ family fun. Then stroll down to the lock to see the famed Rideau Canal in action.

You Gotta Try: Apple Crisp Sundae. Vanilla ice cream, topped with apple pie filling,  hot caramel sauce, apple crumble then topped with peanuts, whipped cream, and a cherry! Holy mother of delicious. Watch it, you’re drooling.

This organic creamery near Sydenham in Frontenac County is making its delicious ice cream using its own organic cream. Debuting its line of ice cream flavours just last summer, Limestone Organic Creamery is quickly becoming known for its incredible cool treats. Look for seasonal flavours! Try the chocolate milk here, too. Best ever.

18. Trousdale’s General Store

Grab a cone of Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream and step back in time at Canada’s oldest general store! The heritage vibrates in this remarkable shop – getting a cone here is an experience. Stroll around Sydenham and end up at the Point Beach to wade in the water.

Ready for something different? Stepping into this diner is like setting foot into a mid-20th century diner, complete with a bright blue corner seat that’s perfect for sharing ice cream. Old fashioned hard scoops are a staple here as Rhonda has been serving up memories in the historic village of Avonmore for 25 years.
