Some of the best memories are made when you spend quality time with those you love. Grab the kiddies and hop in the car for a road trip to one (or more) of these fantastic Family Day activities! We have a list of 23 activities going on this 2020. So to celebrate that shared love, we have put together a list of family day activities for you to enjoy!

1. The Tett Artstravaganza

Spend your family day creating art at The Tett Centre this Family Day. This is a stunning not-for-profit creative arts centre that hosts a variety of family-friendly experiences from music, to acting and interactive art projects. Start your morning with the Dawn Shaker Dance Birthday Party, with music by My Kinda DJ and some delicious goodies from the Juniper Cafe. Then register for a T-Shirt printing workshop before dropping into the kids creativity club! Finish your day in style with a show from The Kingston School of Dance.

2. Family Skating

Gather up the kiddies and bring them to the INVISTA Centre for a full day of family skating. Enjoy some slippery moments on the ice during the ‘Parent & Tot Skating’ and then take a break for some yummy hot chocolate. Head over with the little ones as parents and tot skating is being hosted from 10:30 to 11:50 and 2:00 to 2:50!

3. Feb Fest

This annual Kingston tradition is a signature event that you will want to attend! Each weekend in February, Feb Fest puts on special events including ‘Imagination on Ice’ and the ‘Carr-Harris Cup.’ There are also plenty of fun things to do with the kids including munching on some sweet beavertails, skating lessons, and wagon rides.

4. Teddy Bear Hospital Family Day Program

Things are about to get adorable! We recommend you take the kids to the Teddy Bear Hospital Program at the Museum of Health Care in Kingston. Kids aged 3 to 8 can bring in their most beloved teddy’s to be examined by doctors and nurses for bumps and bruises, as well as delicious treats from Cards Bakery. Call ahead for pre-registration at 613-548-2419.

5. Family Fun at Artillery Park Aquatic Centre

Fight back the winter blues with your family by your side by taking them over to Artilley Park for some swimming and sports this Family Day! With open swimming, parent and tot classes and family sports, you will be growing gills by the end of the day!

6. Brockville Winter Classic 

Celebrate the entire weekend in Brockville for the Winter Classic this year! Each day is filled with a ton of fun events from hockey games to barbeques to movies and free skating. From public skating at Rotary Park, to munching on some sweet beaver tails and hot chocolate.

7. YMCA Family Day Open House

Bring the kids down for YMCA of Brockville and Area’s Family Day Open House! There is a day full of fun including tons of fitness and creative fun. Start your day with some family yoga, then get jumping at the bouncy castles, or enjoy some aquafit! If you are feeling extra ambitious then get your face painted and have your kids enter into the colouring contest!

8. Countryside Adventures

Create the perfect family adventure that will be the talk of Sunday dinners for decades! Experience the magic of Winter with Countryside Adventures Skate through the forest hand-in-hand with those you love the most! Make a day of it and enjoy their warm bonfire after gliding through the 3 kilometre stretch of trail. Finish your day by filling your bellies with mouthwatering moose ears and poutine!

9. Cornwall Colts Hockey Game

There is nothing more Canadian than to spend Family Day at a hockey game! Watch the Cornwall Colts stick it to the Kanata Lasers at the Cornwall Civic Complex at 2 pm. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children, so get ready to cheer!

10. Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia will be playing at the Aultsville Theatre in Cornwall with tickets at $25 for adults, and $20 for children. Listen to the beautiful music of ABBA, while you are taken on a journey about family, love and laughter.

11. ATV Tours

If you have an adventurous clan, have some fun by taking an ATV tour of Gananoque’s trails! There are over 37 kilometres of trails that bring you through to the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. The tour will show you incredible views of the diverse landscape as well as creating incredible memories.

12. Family Day Winter River Festival

Thousand Islands Boat Museum is hosting its 4th Annual Family Day Winter River Festival this February. Relax on a horse-drawn carriage, learn how to ice fish, and then warm up by the fire while you munch on some hot dogs and free chilli! There has never been a better time to learn how to ice fish, than with those you love most!

13. Flashback February At Escape Camp Picton: Family Day Event

Escape Camp Picton is open Family Day Weekend with special Flashback February activities! Challenge yourself in history-inspired escape rooms in a WW2 air force training base, then enjoy a slice of Canada War Ration Cake and make your own scytale cipher, just like a citizen spy!

14. Family Fun Day at the Frink

Head over to the Frink Centre Conservation Area and enjoy live music, crafts, and a scavenger hunt! This event is free for children under 15, so you can bring everyone without breaking the bank this holiday!

15. Belleville Senators Family Day Weekend

Take the whole family out to the Belleville Senators afternoon game against the Syracuse Crunch and enjoy some life-like dinosaur displays from Research Casting International, a dinosaur hunt station, a family skate after the game, and much more! The Belleville Senators have created a special package that provides tickets to three games, as well as a branded lunch bag and signed hockey puck!

16. Batawa Ski Hill or Snowshoe Adventure

Grab your snowboard and skis and hit the slopes from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Batawa Ski Hill.

17. Family Fishing Days

Ontario has designated February 16th to 18th as ‘Family Fishing Days’. This means you can reel in some big fish without a license for those days only! This is the perfect chance to teach your kids a new skill while making unique memories.

18. Mystery At The Museum

National Air Force Museum of Canada puts family first! This year, they’re hosting a “Mystery at the Museum” event, come out and hone your detective skills solving an unnamed mystery!

19. Snowmobiling In The County

Make Family Day extreme this year by taking your loved ones on a day of snowmobiling! Known for being the hub of snowmobiling, you can access over 200 kilometres of trails that run from the Lennox & Addington County all the way to Amherstview. If snowmobiling is not your thing, give snowshoeing or skiing a try as the trails are great for walking as well.

20. Bird Watching on Wolfe Island

Dress for warmth when you head over to Wolfe Island this Family Day for a morning of bird watching! Take the free Wolfe Island ferry to the stunning island for an especially spectacular view of local birds. During the winter, you are likely to spot hawks, harriers and snowy owls on your journey.

21. Kemptville Kinsmen’s Family Day Skate & Movie

This Family Day makes some amazing memories with the kids at the North Grenville Municipal Centre, where you can enjoy skating and a movie! Angry Birds 2 will be playing at both 10:30 am, and 2:00 pm. Public skating will be open from 12:00 to 1:50. Don’t forget to bring an empty belly, because free hot dogs and hot chocolate will be available!

22. Cross Country Skiing

Strap up your skis and snowshoes and put on some extra layers! This Family Day bring your favourite people to  Murphy’s Point Provincial Park or Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area for some good-old-fashioned cross-country skiing and snowshoeing! With trails as short as 4 kilometres and as long as 20, you can choose how long you’d like to be out in the winter tundra.

23. Family Day by Silver Lake Wesleyan Camp

This year, head over to the Silver Lake Wesleyan Camp in Maberly for a fun winter-themed day with the family. Skating, dog sledding, wagon rides and delicious food will be available. New this year is axe throwing and taffy pulling for those who dare to try!
